Enrollment Process at MLC

Metropolitan Learning Center is an alternative, focus option school open to all students in the Portland Metro area. Our school is the best fit for self-directed, motivated students seeking a small, inclusive school environment that includes cross-age Kx12 experiences and experiential learning. MLC does not have a neighborhood boundary and enrolls students through a lottery process. Students may apply from other Districts as well. 

 MLC MS and HS Enrollment

The lottery for students applying for grades 6-12 for the next school year will be open from November through December. That application can be found here when it is made available by the Enrollment and Transfer department. 

Students who would like to transfer schools for the current school year fill out a Hardship Petition which can be found here. These petitions are regularly reviewed by the enrollment team. If room is or becomes available, the school will reach out to the family about next steps.

MLC Kx5 Enrollment

If applying for grades K-5:

Lottery cycles commence in February.  We have 24 lottery slots for our kindergarten class.  Other grades may have openings depending on attrition.

All K-5 applications that are not successful during the lottery will be automatically placed on our wait list. 

• Complete the http://pps.net/schoolchoice . Contact PPS Enrollment and Transfer Department for details.
• Attend an Open House - further details will be released subject to PPS safety guidelines.
